Experience of weight loss shakes: are they worth it?

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Is there any point in using them when after a while you’ll want to go back to solid/ real food? As you’ll just put the weight back on?

If you want to lose weight it needs to a lifestyle change…meaning you need to eat healthy well balanced meals for the rest of your life! You can always splurge every now and then and eat something not so healthy as long as it’s not a daily thing! I did the slimfast shakes and did lose about 30 pounds doing it but then stopped losing and returned to eating food and eventually gained it all back and then some! The only thing that has worked for me is changing the entire way that I ate food cutting back or out soda from my diet drinking lots of water and staying active! I do drink shakes every now and then but they are whey protein shakes with lots of fruits in them so they are a lot better for me and are a great meal when I don’t feel like cooking anything!

Weight loss bar?

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Hey i seen on TV the other day about this weight loss bar that you eat it for your lunch and dinner with one glass of water per meal. And it fills you up. You dont have to eat anything else. Anyone know what bar i am talking about?

It might be called the "Gimmick" or how about "Sucker"! Those things do not work. Don’t waste your time or money. If you only want to eat a weight loss bar and a glass of water twice a day then go for South Beach Diet bars or Slim Fast bars. They each have meal replacement bars and healthy meals in the frozen food section, and I’m sure you can get those far cheaper in Wal-Mart than those bars you saw on tv.

Is a soy protein shake a good way to get protein if you are trying to lose weight?

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

I am a girl, vegetarian, and trying to lose 20 pounds with diet and exercise.

It depends on what else you are eating and drinking in addition to the shakes. Also the intensity and duration of the exercises you are doing is a factor in whether you are on a healthy weight loss plan.

Be sure to have your BMI and percentage of body fat checked at a fitness center or by a personal trainer so you are focused on the right plan for you. And stay properly hydrated.

Generally speaking, soy is a healthy source of protein. You can get more information and facts about healthy plant based nutrition at pcrm.org (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine).

What is the Best Protein Supplement for me?

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Hey there. Im 18 and between work and school it is hard for me to work out more than twice a week. I want my muscles to feed off of some protein so that they can grow despite the lack of training – very specifically, my forearms and biceps. What is the best protein supplement for me to help me get bigger considering this? Products from GNC would be most appreciated

Thanks

Supplements aren’t really necessary, to be honest. Just eat a fair amount of protein in your diet.

I’ve used them before, but haven’t for over a year…haven’t noticed a difference.

FYI, you’ll look funny with disproportionately large arms.

Are diet drinks really that bad for weight loss?

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

I know the claims of the chemicals in diet drinks and how they are bad for your health. But will diet drinks really interfere with my ability to lose weight? I have a low caloric intake, I exercise a lot, but I have to have my Diet Coke during the day. I guess you could say it is my crutch.

I too am a diet coke lover. I am currently on weight watchers and happy to report diet coke is zero points! I do try to have some water in between, but basically as long as your drinking liquids, it’s a good thing. Diet coke is my vice, and I had to find a diet that I could still have it! lol. Good luck!
